Registration of Waqf
In terms of Section 36 of the Waqf Act, 1995 every Waqf shall be registered with the Board. The Board has been doing this work since inception and under this Waqf Act also. At yet the Board has got registered 2552 Waqf Estates.

Out of 2536 Waqf Estates 50%(fifty percent) of Waqf Estates are registered having no income and remaining 50%(fifty percent) are such which have annual income below one lakh and 3% three (Percent) are such waqfs whose income are one lakh or more.
Following are the list of Waqf Estates having annual income more than one lakh.
  1. Bibi Soghra Waqf Estate No. 2, Bihar Sharif, Nalanda.
  2. Badi Khanquah Waqf Estate No. 22, Bihar Sharif, Nalanda.
  3. Bibi Mannu Khanum Jan, Waqf Estate No. 15, Muradpur, Patna.
  4. Anjuman Islamia Hall, Waqf Estate No. 2146, Muradpur, Patna.
  5. Aranda Waqf Estate No. 482, Kotwali Patna.
  6. Shah Enayat Hussain, Waqf Estate No. 159, Bhagalpur.
  7. Pipal Panti Waqf Estate No. 559, Buxar.
  8. Daudi Waqf Estate No. 1395, Moti Jheel Muzaffarpur.
Meaning of Waqf

The word "Waqf" has its origin in the Arabic word "Waqufa" meaning thereby to detain or to hold or tie up. It is said that once second Khalifa Omar acquired a piece of land in Khaibar and asked the prophet Mohammed as how best to to make the most pious use of it. The prophet said "Tie up the property and devote the usufruct to the welfare of human beings, and it is not to be sold or made the subject of gift or inheritance , devote its produce to your children , your kindred and the poor and in the way of Allah".

The Waqf Act 1995 defines the WAQF as the permanent dedication by a person professing Islam, of movable or immovable property for any purpose recognized by the Muslim law as pious, religious or charitable Waqf" means the permanent dedication by a person professing Islam, of any movable or immovable property for any purpose recognized by the Muslim law as pious, religious or charitable and includes :
